NFL 2010-2011: A Few Thoughts

As another NFL season goes into the books, any avid Football fan should sit back and reflect on what a glorious season its been. Much like a great book, which can take days or even years to comprehend, this football season's on-field and off the field highlights are almost too much to comprehend. Let's look at some things we've learned.

James Harrison doesn't care about your rules..... or apparently money.

A big part of this year's NFL season has been spent discussing a serious issue: head injuries. During the season, the NFL changed its rules pertaining to hitting a 'defenseless player.' Harrison has been the player fined the most under the new rule (around $100,000) and has consistently lamented he will not change how he plays. Mike Tomlin (former MN defensive coordinator) famously complained, "I don’t care how much money you make. I take offense at times just in general how all of us talk about the money...." “He’s got two kids. That’s some serious college schooling right there potentially for those kids 16, 18 years from now.” FOR GOD'S SAKE, SOMEONE TELL ROGER GOODELL ABOUT HARRISON'S KIDS! And what does he mean potentially? Did he just call James Harrison's kids stupid?

Redemption.... for good players....

Michael Vick and Ben Roethlisberger made it really hard on anyone on a high-horse this year. Let's face facts, if you like athletes to be well-behaved, freshly shaved and God fearing, well..... you're screwed. Kurt Warner retired last year and he was rarely clean-shaven. Big 'Gray' Ben took a beating from the media this year and rightfully so. But no one cares about it now. Nope, it's all about winning another championship for those noble Rooneys. You know, the hypocritical S.O.B.'s who shipped Santonio Holmes (former Super Bowl MVP) off for a pot possession charge, but kept at the very least, a dumb-ass QB and at the worst, a serial sexual deviant. Huh. Vick captivated America when he... actually started studying film and made a decent effort at being a pocket passer. And every Sunday when he ran around and made plays, we forgave him a little more. After all, he really did serve his time, and who doesn't deserve another shot? Right? right? Right. At least Vick doesn't have to do THIS KIND OF STUFF ANYMORE.

Firings. Lots of them.

Just look at that asshole in that ridiculous headset. What boy-band did he steal that from? In the NFL, there is always a coaching carousel. But, did it just seem like a lot of crappy coaches got canned? Yep. And that Jeff Fisher firing out of left field, AWESOME. Paging Norv Turner, the principal wants to see you in his office...

Understatement of the year: Favre should have stayed retired.... Comes back and Shits the bed instead...

Just look how funny that caption looks now Peter King! You cock! But seriously, regardless of the fact that Favre ended another season with an interception, last year (statistically) was his best. Mostly because of the low interception count. This year, he had more by game 3, continued to get the shit kicked out of him and made all 'massage therapists,' re-consider taking that independent contract job with an NFL team. All while destroying my NFL season by week 6. Also, anyone who wears those dumb ass Favre jerseys that are half Green Bay and half Minnesota, you are 100% asshole.

Antonio Cromartie is a BadAss.

He called Tom Brady an asshole, he told Matt Hasselback via Twitter he'd smash his face in and punched Paul Bunyan in the dick. Maybe not the last one, but the other two for sure.

Ted Thompson owes a lot of people a gut punch.... A lot.

Last year, after Favre's renaissance season, Ted Thompson took a beating. What was he thinking getting rid of Favre? How does everyone forget Favre's season with the Jets? Now the Pack are in the Super Bowl with a QB who may not prove to be as durable, but who is just as talented as Favre ever was. One year after being called a moron, he's being lauded as a genius. I'm looking at you Mike Lupica and Peter King!!!!!

Sal Paolantonio does his best 'Mean Gene' impression interviewing Bart Scott.
